I feel as though I’m just always changing the oil in my car or spending money on the upkeep of something else essential to my life.
It often feels like some sort of endless wheel of maintenance or repair expenses. Still, you have to take care of the stuff that takes care of you. This goes for the HVAC equipment as well. My dad was always a big proponent for preventive maintenance. He said spending some money to take care of your things will pay off in the long term. I believe he is actually right. And just some basic HVAC data seems to prove that point. Looking it up online, I noted that on average, an HVAC unit getting consistent HVAC service will last about 7 years longer than one that isn’t maintained consistently. That should really be enough for anyone right? Yet, I still had times where I thought I’d save some money and put off the seasonal HVAC maintenance to the next season. Thankfully, my dad’s voice would ring in my ear and I would invariably call the HVAC company to schedule HVAC service. Now, I’ve sort of taken a step where I simply don’t have to remember to call the HVAC company. I signed up for the HVAC service plan. This means they actually make the HVAC service appointments and I simply confirm them online. It’s easy and convenient. Plus, if there is an HVAC repair that has to be done, I only pay for the parts. The HVAC company takes care of the service charge. This makes it all the easier to simply spend good money on keeping things good.
