I arrived home from work one Friday night tired and hungry.
- I went straight to the bathroom and took a shower before going to the entryway to prepare a quick meal for myself.
I planned to scrub up, eat and sleep, but as I noticed something unofficial as I was preparing my meal. My HVAC system was turning off and on quicker than usual. At first, I thought it was all in my mind. After observing the system for a while, I was sure it was faulty. I went online, and Google searched for potential causes for this problem. I learned that this is an HVAC system short cycling, then essentially, the system ends its cycle prematurely and begins shortly after. It is a common HVAC problem that is caused by several factors, including frozen evaporator coils, dirty air filters, oversized systems, and electrical concerns. A dirty air filter limits your HVAC system’s airflow causing a build-up of warm air within the system. When the system becomes hot, it turns off, and on learning this, I inspected my HVAC unit’s air filter, and I was shocked by my finding. The air filters were dirty and congested. This wasn’t easily clear because I had replaced the filters one month ago. I expected it to last for more than two months before my next replacement. I stopped preparing my food and walked into a heating and AC products shop to buy new air filters for my HVAC equipment. I purchased the filters and rushed back home to fit them in the venue, soon after, my HVAC machine started operating as expected. I got back to preparing my meal until it was ready and ate the food before retiring to bed.
