I have a lot of fears when it comes to my old HVAC system

As a new homeowner, I have a lot of common fears. This is especially the case when it comes to my HVAC system. I have a relatively old central HVAC and it works okay so far, but I don’t really know how long it will last. One thing that bothers me is that the energy bills are kind of expensive. I probably should just have the HVAC replaced for that reason alone, but there are more reasons. This HVAC struggles to some degree to meet the temperature control settings, but it’s not terrible for such an old machine. We have been getting regular maintenance done on it so far. Not even the HVAC professional can say for certain whether it’s time to upgrade or not, but he said he probably would if he owned the place. I’m just going to save up for another year I think before I choose to go for the upgrade. I will need some time anyway to research modern HVAC systems to see what I really want. Not to mention, I would like to go for a more costly HVAC system that will last me a long time without the need for too much maintenance. A friend of mine told me a ductless mini split would probably be the best route to go. He even said we could install the thing on our own. I suppose if the price is right and this ductless HVAC is as straightforward as my buddy claims, I might get a new HVAC sooner than later. That definitely would be nice.
