I am definitely concerned about our lake house odoring; I have a cat that uses a litter box and I don’t want our lake house to odor like it.
I plug in wallflowers in all our outlets, have candles burning and wipe our lake house properly, however when I saw that Heating and A/C companies sell scented air filters, I was seriously pumped.
They had lavender, rose, lemon and laundry scent. I was so excited that I purchased all of them and lots of them. The first week I decided to try lavender and I just hated it. It odored like an old, dirty flower. It made our lake house reek to the point where I ripped it out, however rose wasn’t any better. The lemon scent gave myself and others a headache and the laundry scent wasn’t pleasant at all. I ended up giving up on the scented air filters entirely. I thought a scent would be nice… Scented cat litter is amazing. I like a car air freshener. I feel the difference is that the air filter catches dust, hair and debris from getting into the system, and all that gross stuff clogs in the air filter and then the scent gets washed over it. The scent mixed with old dust is just not pleasant; My Heating and A/C business suggested that I turn to an air purification method if I definitely wanted our home to be free of odors. I have looked into them and they are pretty extravagant and tough to install. I feel I have the concern basically solved with official cleanings and scented items. If I start noticing a cat litter odor, I will buy the media air cleaner though.
