The Air Filter Replacement Was Outrageous

My husband took my car to the dealership for my yearly service inspection.

I don’t mind taking the car to the dealership when needed, but I try to avoid it as much as possible.

I dread listening to the employees speak about upgrades and maintenance packages. It’s never simple. I wish I could pull in my car, sit in the waiting room quietly until my car was serviced, and then leave. However, I find myself spending at least 40 minutes listening to someone go on and on about everything that’s wrong with my car and why it needs more servicing. My husband doesn’t mind listening to the lectures and he’s always patient and kind. While he was there last time, the technician told him that the air filter needed replaced. The filter was covered in black dust and they couldn’t tell how long it had been installed. My husband asked them how much it would cost to replace the air filter and they told him $90. When he asked how much it would cost to simply purchase the air filter, they said $30! Upon hearing this, my husband purchased two brand new air filters and brought them home. For $60, he replaced the air filters in both of our cars. He was able to remove the old air filters easily and have the new air filters installed within an hour. He was able to save us $120 by doing the labor himself. I’m so glad my husband took my car to be serviced instead of me!
