I’m not complaining, I want to make that perfectly clear.
My family is wonderful and they are my reason for living for the most part.
But, it’s also a bit tough sometimes to be the only male in a house full of girls. It’s not so much their idiosyncrasies or what they do as much as it is their reaction to me. I’m often viewed as the boy who comes in and wrecks stuff. This can be me changing the thermostat setting or wondering in and saying hey to their friends. God forbid I sit down and eat a sandwich with my feet up in the air conditioning. It’s that sort of stuff that makes living in my house feel a bit challenging at times. One of the biggest complaints is when it’s rainy outside and I want to do my exercises inside. I hear a litany of complaints about how gross and sweaty I am. Or why can’t I just join a gym and get that out of the house. Plus, I tend to turn down the HVAC thermostat setting when I exercise as well. This elicits many side eye glances and hoodies being pulled on. In an effort to meet my girls more in the middle, I called the HVAC company. I asked the HVAC professionals to come out and change our existing heating and cooling equipment. It wasn’t as though they were replacing the HVAC equipment as much as they were refining it. Once there work was complete, our home had zone controlled HVAC. That meant Dad could now find a different part of the house to cool off for exercise or to secretly eat a sandwich in the air conditioning.
