Cooling and humidity balance

The heat pump is something that I so took for granted for much of my life.

Even when I first became a house owner, I wasn’t aware of how truly awesome that piece of Heating and A/C machine genuinely is.

But all that changed when I hung out with the Heating and A/C tech during a seasonal heating and cooling repair appointment. It was my afternoon off and this Heating and A/C tech and I had shared a brew a few time before at the local pub. So, I asked him if I could just sort of watch what all went into an air conditioning tune-up. I assured him I wouldn’t get in the way and if I was pestering him, he could just tell me. This guy is the coolest and was ecstatic to have myself and others along. And that was the afternoon that I fully understood just how adaptable and amazing the heat pump genuinely is. First of all, I had no idea that when you moved the thermostat from cooling to heating, the heat pump simply reverses the refrigerant. It’s able to then extract heat energy from the outside air and use it to heat the house. My mind was blown. And when the heat pump is cooling the house, it’s also balancing the humidity levels inside. It does this as a byproduct of removing indoor heat energy and poor it outside. During the process, a whole lot of moisture in the air gets exhausted as well. And that lowers the humidity which in turn mitigates mold & mildew growth. It truly is an amazing piece of Heating and A/C equipment. And that afternoon taught myself and others to never take heat pumps and heating and cooling for granted ever again.
