The higher the MERV rating, the better.
For a long time, I used cheap air filters in our Heating as well as Air Conditioning system. Eventually I started to wonder about other air filters & why they were so costly. I saw this a single guy getting HEPA air filters & I asked him why he would opt to pay so much for air filters. That’s when he told me that HEPA air filters pull 99.9% of the contaminants from the air. He said he has poor flu symptoms & they are the only air filters that labor for him, when he saw I had the cheap fiberglass air filters, he asked me why I would use those cheap things. He said they don’t protect the Heating as well as Air Conditioning system care about they should & they allow for poor air quality in the home. I thought about it & realized that our air quality wasn’t that enjoyable & I suddenly realized the reason for that, the air filters. I thanked the guy for advising that I use higher quality air filters & he briefly told me about the MERV ratings & how they showed the quality of the air filters. The higher the MERV rating, the better. So I ended up going with some more costly air filters that fit our Heating as well as Air Conditioning system. I couldn’t think that I was buying costly air filters, although I figured I would go right back if they didn’t work. Well, I couldn’t think how well they worked & I finally could appreciate why people opt for higher quality air filters. I have noticed improvements in our health & I guess more comfortable in our home.
