My wife and I were shopping, a couple of weeks ago. We went into the home improvement center and we overheard a conversation. A young woman was trying to get information on her air conditioning, but no one would give her a straightforward answer. I had worked in HVAC for quite some time now and I owned my own HVAC company. My wife nudged me and told me to see if we could help. We slowly approached the young woman. She had a crying baby in her arms and while my wife talk to the crying little boy, I asked about her situation. She told me that her husband was in the Army and her air conditioning had broken. She knew she needed a new AC unit, but she didn’t have the money and her husband hadn’t sent her a paycheck yet. Her baby had allergies and he really needed the air conditioning. My wife gave her a hug and told her to relax. I called my office and asked what we had in stock. I got her address and we followed her to her home where we were met by one of the HVAC techs. They had an air conditioning unit in the back of the van. I went over the HVAC maintenance and repair plan with her, while the AC unit was installed. I got a phone call from her husband the next day. He offered to pay for the AC unit when he got paid and he thanked me for my service.
