How my HVAC handles the weather

Winters in the south always fluctuate quite a bit.

I have been getting days of what I consider cold.

I have wind, rain and chilly temperatures in the 50s and sometimes 40s. My heating system has to pump out air all night and day long. It is horrible being cooped up in the house. Then a few days later the temperatures will start out in the low 60s and work their way into the 70s. Suddenly I am wearing shorts, a tank top and wishing I had my AC unit running. Thank goodness I do have a central HVAC system. The unit decides heating or cooling, not me. I set the temperature at 72 degrees and let it do the rest. In the winter mainly I am experiencing heating in order to get up to 72 degrees. On weird days when the weather gets a little warmer, the HVAC is either not operating or actually cooling the home to 72 degrees. I don’t need to touch a button or mess with anything. Another perk is that the thermostat I have with this system alerts me on the weather outside. I used to watch the news, log on my computer or check the weather app on my phone. Now when I walk by the thermostat in the hallway it lights up and shows me the forecast. I know what temperature it is inside, outside and what the weather will do later in the day. It allows me to dress accordingly for the day and know if I am getting heat or ac today.
