I got fired from my position as an HVAC technician

Being an HVAC technician is incredibly complicated.

Since it is a tough job, it tends to draw tough people.

I will be the first to admit that I am not a very tough person. The only reason that I am working as an HVAC technician is that I had no other option. Nobody else in our area was hiring, so I had no other choice. However, I wasn’t able to work as an HVAC technician for long. A few months into the job, I lost my position because I messed up because of an accident. A customer called up to ask us to fix the gas lines for his gas furnace. Apparently, it was leaking natural gas, so they didn’t want to risk a fire because of their furnace. While we were there, the senior HVAC technician trusted me with installing the gas line while he was looking at their air conditioner upstairs. I wasn’t sure what happened next, because the main water line in the house burst open and started gushing into the basement. I quickly found the HVAC technician, and we tried to figure out how to shut off the water. By the time we turned off the water, there was a ton of water in his basement. The homeowner was very angry but not nearly as angry as the HVAC technician that had hired me. I found out that it would cost him a lot of money to repair the damage, and I was promptly fired from my position as an HVAC technician. Apparently, the people in this HVAC company don’t believe in second chances.
