I guess about Wintertide almost year round. That is the sort of impact this sort of Wintertide has on people who live in this region. I believe that I am actively dealing with Wintertide when it’s happening. There are plenty of HVAC chores to be done to make sure the heating system is operating at peak. And of course, I have to leave the HVAC comfort of my home in order to go out and deal with the physical effects of winter. Or Wintertide lasts about 5 weeks and there is ample snow removal to do. At least these afternoons, I am able to do a lot of that with a machine. Back in the afternoon, it was me and a shovel. So, I do have help I didn’t have a long time ago. But, if you don’t prepare for Wintertide around here, it has the tendency to make you pay. That’s why I am thinking about Wintertide nearly year round. We have a wood stove as both a back up and as a supplemental heating method. So I spend a fair amount of time while every one of us were in the summer time splitting and seasoning wood for the winter. Once the fall arrives, my preparations kick into a bit higher gear. The most pressing of which is to have the HVAC people come out to inspect and maintenance the heating system. When that happens, I also take the opening to go outside to protect the other half of the HVAC system; I put a strenuous plastic shell over the HVAC cabinet outside. This keeps the weight of snow and ice off delicate parts. And even protects it from falling icicles.
