Our summer was ruined without air conditioning.

My husband and I retired about two years ago.

We decided we were going to build a small cabin up on the mountain.

We had bought the property quite a while ago, always looking at it as being the perfect place to retire. Now, we were ready to put up our home and live out our lives in quiet. We had our homes plans in hand, and we headed to our local contractor. We had the house up for sale, to help pay for the new home. Unfortunately, our home sold before we had our home completed. They were still working on the house when we were moving in. They still had to install the HVAC system and finish the walls. We decided to think of the lack of HVAC and walls as an inconvenience and not as a reason to not move in. Unfortunately summer arrived more quickly than we had thought it had. The trees didn’t offer nearly enough shade to compensate for the high temperatures. I wanted to tell the HVAC company that we needed the air conditioning installed sooner than later. My husband told me to be patient. He was sure they would have the air conditioning installed soon since it was summer, but he was wrong. We spent the entire summer in misery. We had ceiling fans, but all they did was blow the heat around. The HVAC contractor apologized for not being able to get the work done as soon as we wanted, but they had to order a special HVAC unit for our home.
