I just shook my head at their decision.

I didn’t know if I wanted to stay there for long, or even at all

I knew they were going to be opening the fitness center. The owner was angry over being closed, even though we were dealing with a pandemic. It wasn’t like they were the only ones who had to close their doors. Unless you were a necessary service, you had to close. I don’t see a fitness center as being a necessity. Even though, when the fitness center finally opened, I couldn’t wait to get out and get some exercise. I wanted to feel the weights in my hands and experience the smell of hard-earned sweat. I had my mask on when I walked in, upset that there was no sign to say Masks must be worn. The HVAC system was the same as it was when we were last there. I thought they would have added an air purification system to the gym, but the air quality was still that of stagnant sweat and old sanitizer. They did have sanitizer bottles at every station, and a roll of paper towels. The problem was that I didn’t see very many people using the sanitizer. I was the only one using a mask and wearing gloves. I didn’t know if I wanted to stay there for long, or even at all. I stood there looking around and watching the activity, while shaking my head at the decisions they had made. I was sure the fitness center wouldn’t stay open, since there was no social distancing or any kind of air purification to keep the air quality safe. I walked out, hoping they would change their policy so I could return safely.
