The cold air is too much to handle.

When I lost my job due to downsizing, I knew I had to find another one.

I’m not one who enjoys sitting at home and doing nothing. I was only out of work for three days before I was job hunting. I called a work recruiter to help me secure job interviews. I went to several interviews before I found a job I thought I may like. I was called back for the second interview, which made me really excited. They showed me around the office and although I wouldn’t have my own office like I had the old job, it still looked like it would be fun. I remembered how good the air conditioning was in the old job, as I looked at all the air vents in the office space. I knew the air conditioning had to be wonderful, and I accepted the job. When I first stepped into the office space, they showed me to my desk. I didn’t remember seeing this desk in this position when they showed me around the office. I looked up at the huge air vent that was pointing directly at my back. I sat there doing my work, and I wished I had brought a sweater with me. The cold air from the air vent was hitting me in the neck and I was beginning to ache. I asked if there was a chance of moving my desk and I got a polite smile and I was told no. I spent four weeks in that job and went home every night with a stiff neck because of the air conditioning. I knew I had to find another job.
