Occasionally I legitimately wish that my partner would stop talking to her mother. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I want her to be distant from her family for any nefarious reason. I want her to have a nice relationship with all of her family but there are particular people who put bad ideas in her head. I realized this early on when my partner told me that her mom was concerned if I was going to be a nice enough provider! Apparently, her mother’s major worry in life was having the ability to financially support a materialistic lifestyle, and everytime my partner and her mom talk on the phone there is some pressing expense headed our way. My mother-in-law is convinced these days that we need to update our entire central heating and cooling system, and she saw a segment on the news that proposed upgrading your forced air heating system and air conditioning system unit with more eco-friendly and energy-efficient air quality control systems. After that, my mother-in-law went out and installed radiant heated flooring throughout her house. She put evaporative cooling systems in the place where her air conditioning system unit once sat. Then, she started telling my partner that we should do the same thing with our central heating and A/C system. The concern is, we have a legitimately unusual financial situation than our mother-in-law. I do not have the money for a full heating and cooling renovation. I barely even have the cash to support our daily energy bill at this point. I am anxious about our mother-in-law’s influence on our partner and the fact that our mother in law is trying to set her up with her HVAC worker.
