Sometimes I absolutely wish that my spouse would stop talking to his mother.
- Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I want him to be distant from his family for any nefarious reason.
I want him to have a great relationship with all of his family but there are particular people who put bad ideas in his head. I realized this early on when my husband told me that his mom was concerned if I was going to be a good enough wife. Apparently, his mother’s major worry in life was having the ability to financially support a materialistic lifestyle. Everytime my spouse and his mom talk on the cellphone there is some large expense headed our way. My mother-in-law is convinced these afternoons that we need to replace our entire central heating and cooling system. She saw a segment on the news that recommended upgrading your forced air gas furnace and A/C machine with more eco-friendly and energy-efficient air quality control systems. After that, my mother-in-law went out and installed radiant heated flooring throughout her house. She put evaporative cooling systems in the locale where her A/C machine once sat. Then, she started telling our spouse that we should do the same thing with our central heating and A/C system. The problem is, we have a weird financial situation than my mother-in-law. I don’t have the money for a full heating and cooling renovation. I barely even have the currency to support our current energy bill at this point. I am worried about my mother-in-law’s influence on our spouse and the fact that my mother in law is trying to set him up with his Heating plus A/C business.
