Cabin Getting First Heating and Cooling System

I own a cabin way off in the woods that I love dearly. It is a retreat that salves both the heart and the soul. My work brings with it a great deal of stress. So, it is lovely to be able to get away a few times a month to be surrounded by the stillness of nature. A couple days of that type of therapy will correct nearly any personal imbalance I suffer from. I say I own the cabin. Actually, my grandfather built it decades and decades ago. My dad passed it down to me when he died. Technically, I am the family caretaker of the property since it belongs to the entire family. But most of my cousins just don’t really want anything to do with the place. The cabin is so far out that it didn’t even get electricity until 2002. So, I am the one who primarily spends the most time there. However, it is a great deal of fun to have other family members join me up there. As the caretaker, I am responsible for all upkeep and maintenance. There is actually a fund that was put in place for this very purpose. I haven’t really touched a dime of the fund. All of the repairs have been things I could do. But, I just made a decision to tap into some of that money for an HVAC system. The cabin has a wood stove for the winter but beyond that there is no formal HVAC system. I really didn’t want to go to the expense of putting ducts in there. So, I went a different direction. I am installing a mini split heating and cooling unit. The mini split is an HVAC technology that does not need air ducts to deliver heating and cooling.
