It paid off to be outside

When I was growing up I remember many days of our mom being a lot more strict than the other parents.

The kids down the street were always eating candy, watching TV, and playing video games in the basement.

At our house, unlike theirs, our mom insisted that every one of us live sugar-free, learned from books all afternoon, and spend our free time outdoors. Every Summer afternoon, I recall that she would basically shove us out the front door and lock it behind us. Well, I didn’t like it at the time however now as a grown adult I’m really ecstatic that she made us go outside. If she hadn’t, I really do not believe I would have ever become a professional Heating and Cooling worker after high school. You see, one fateful afternoon when I was trying to entertain myself in the hot and humid backyard I happened to notice our older neighbor was outside repairing his large central cooling system. I had never seen an a/c component up close let alone helped to disassemble and clean a big cooling component such as that. I roamed over and asked if I could watch him carefully cleaning and professionally diagnosing his air quality control device. From that afternoon forward, our HVAC fixing neighbor would include me in his regular Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C repair works that he did around the house. I developed a mechanical mind and knew our way all around a modern heating and cooling idea by the age of 12. When I graduated from school, I swear I already had many Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C certification courses firmly under our belt from the local community school. I rapidly became a respected professional Heating and Cooling worker for a major air quality control dealership in town. To this afternoon, the credit particularly goes to our mom and her outright insistence on us getting fresh air.
