I find it really curious that I will completely zone right on out of a conversation.
If something doesn’t hold our interest, I tend to just check out in our head.
I don’t want to be rude but that is just the way I’m built. It puzzles myself and others to this day as to why I am care about this. My friends often believe that I simply can’t pay attention to anything. Well, that is really a separate issue, but my zoning out of boring conversations have to do with lack of interest & not attention span. In fact, I tend to be pretty consistent about noting the details that are going on around me. The situations with the HVAC Last year is a great example. The Summer heat has arrived full force & it seems as though the HVAC is running nearly all the time. I do our best to keep it in check. Every one of us have a smart HVAC control component that helps myself and others keep the HVAC setting no more than 15 degrees cooler than outside while I was in peak heat hours. I also pay attention to making sure the shades are pulled to keep out the direct sunlight to mitigate that heat. However, I noticed a few weeks ago that I was hearing a weird sound coming from the HVAC than I had heard before. It was sort of a high pitched sound. And, there was a sort of metal on metal aspect to it. Not wanting to take any chances, I called the HVAC people. Fortunately for me, there were some worn bearings that were really upgraded. This saved myself and others a big breakdown cost. See, I pay attention.
