The last 66 years of our life have all included butt whipping winters.
The section of the country I was raised & lived our adult life in had some brutally difficult Winter time conditions.
It was crazy. But, our dad was a “he man” style & forced myself and others to endure the conditions because it would build character or something. I’m still a bit bitter when I would be comfortable inside the HVAC & she would force myself and others outside to shovel for an hour. It did not build character. However, those experiences built a hatred of Winter time inside me. As an adult, I still hated the winter. But, I married a local girl, had a local career & there was family to consider. So, I stuck it out & dealt with a single gas furnace churning Winter time after another. Well, that has all ended for me. It is with great relief, excitement & slight anxiety that I embrace a new chapter in our life. I am moving south & leaving all the reminders of Winter time behind me. There will be no more HVAC gas furnaces, shovels, ice melt or even a Winter time coat in our life anymore. I am ready to deal with the heat while I was in the Summer as I have bought a small place that has the latest & greatest heat pump. The summers get really hot. But, I’ll take that heat over 6 weeks of chilly any time. The rest of the year is perfect. I mean just perfect weather with sunlight & great temperatures. I’d say I’m overdue.
