I made my husband promise that under no circumstances would we ever have a junk room in our house.
- I grew up with a junk room and it was the worst thing I could think of.
My mom said it was because there wasn’t any HVAC in that room. No decent person would want to put a guest into a guest room that didn’t have heating or air conditioning. I couldn’t argue with her thought, but there had to be something that could be done other than to turn it into a junk room. She had racks of clothing hanging all over. We had some furniture in there and some collectibles that I couldn’t believe anyone would have wanted to give or get. I often questioned if we couldn’t clean it out and put Zone Control in that room, but mom didn’t want to hear it. Now that I am married, I elicited the promise of no junk rooms from my husband. We built a small shed in the backyard and we put a ductless HVAC system in there. I was happy to know that no matter what we put into the shed, we were going to be able to keep it safe. Our spare room was going to be a guest room, no matter what happened. We were always going to have room for visiting family and friends, and there would be perfect HVAC in the spare room. Now, I just need to figure out where I am going to put our new baby when it is born, so I still have a spare room.
