Shop space for my wood furniture hobby

Part time I make custom furniture.

  • I do a lot of handcrafted pieces made of wood.

When I lived alone I had my own work shack that I kept my tools, wood, stain and building plans. After my girlfriend and I got together, we moved to a new area. Our new house is way bigger, better but has no shed in the backyard. There is really no place for me to do my custom furniture building. I have thought about building a shed and making that my workspace but it is so much time, effort and money. I did find online that there are shop spaces for rent in my Northland area. I can rent out a workspace and store all my tools in there. My wood, stains and finished pieces can all be stored in my rental space. The shop space is also very close to my house. Anytime I would want to work I could probably bike over. I like the layout of the shop space too. It is way bigger than what I was working with before and it has air conditioning. Being able to work with AC blasting on me will be a game changer. I also like that the shop space makes my hobby look more professional. Before I had people coming into my backyard and looking at the finished pieces in my lawn. With a professional shop space, I look like a real business rather than a guy who likes working with wood. I am thinking I might see an increase in customers due to this.
