Being ventilation expert is freaky right now

About three years ago I got laid off from my job and realized that I was going to have to make some big changes.

I wasn’t happy with the industry that I had wound up in, I hated the work that I hated every day, and the people that I was surrounded by were historically awful.

I decided to take my lay off as a sign that things needed to change in a big way. I went online and started researching lucrative careers and stable industries to join. It turns out, the HVAC industry is supposed to be one of the fastest-growing and most stable areas in today’s modern world. Everybody needs heating and cooling in their homes and offices. There isn’t a single human who exists without any heating or cooling device, and those furnaces and AC units will always need repairs and routine service jobs. It seemed like a really good idea to go off and get my HVAC certification so I could be employed anywhere in the country and earn a great salary. I joined my local trade school and became a part of the 2-year heating, cooling, and ventilation licensure program. I’m proud to say that I graduated at the top of my class from the HVAC certification program two months ago. Wow, what timing. As soon as I became an official heating, cooling, and ventilation technician, COVID-19 took over the world and indoor air became a dangerous weapon. Now, I’m going to local residential and commercial spaces, wearing a makeshift face mask and praying that I don’t catch anything from the indoor air handling devices. I swear, it’s only been a few weeks and every time I pick up a used air filter, I sincerely question my decision to enter this line of work.
