My hubby and I just finished our basement last year after living in our cabin for over twenty years, and the two of us planned on finishing it a long time ago, however the people I was with and I just kept putting it off, and the people I was with and I did not have a lot extra currency to do it while the kids were still at home, then now that the kids are grown and out of the house, the people I was with and I have more currency to spend on remodeling our house.
The two of us decided to start with finishing the basement, however it was a fun and long project.
There were no windows down there, so it was a little dark and dingy. The two of us decided to add a window. The best section about adding a window was being able to use an a/c down there. It never got super warm in the basement because it is a basement, however it got warm enough that the people I was with and I were a little uncomfortable, but my hubby is a big guy, so he cares about it to be pretty cool in the house. The two of us planned to spend a lot of time in the basement, so for him, air conditioning was necessary. The two of us used an outdated a/c that the people I was with and I had upstairs in the attic last year, however it stopped working this summer, so the people I was with and I had to buy a new one. It took awhile for us to find an a/c for an affordable price. They cost a little more than the people I was with and I had expected them to. I am cheerful to have air conditioning down there once again. I am sure that our hubby is too! He easily did not care about going separate from it for even a few afternoons.
