I love fresh baked chocolate chip cookies

When the smell of fresh-baked cookies is in the air, I feel like I am transformed back to my Mom’s Kitchen.

When my sister and I were kids, we always helped my mom bake cookies in the kitchen.

She made chocolate chip cookies and those were my favorite. She also made cookies that had oatmeal and raisins, and those cookies were my sister’s favorite. This year was the first time that I let my own kids help in the kitchen. They are 4 and 5 years old, and they are finally tall enough to reach the kitchen table. They love to help me add ingredients like flour, sugar, eggs, and chocolate chips. They even like forming tiny little balls to make the cookies. I am reminded of the times when my mom would help my sister and I bake cookies for school. One time we were baking sugar cookies with red, blue, and green icing. I remember this one in particular, because my sister knocked over the space heater in the kitchen and oil Spilled Out all over the floor. My mom dropped a whole tray of cookies on the floor. She rushed to pick up the space heater and burnt her hand. I think that was the last time that I remember having a space heater in the kitchen. Shortly after that winter season, my mom and dad had a central heating system installed in our house. That made cookie baking time even better, because the smell of cookies was distributed all over the house. With all of those heating vents, the smell of cookies was everywhere!
