I ran over to grab her, but she jumped out and sprinted into the street
For over six months now I have been staying with some friends of mine at their house. It isn’t an ideal living situation for anyone, I would imagine. I try really hard to stay out of their way because I’m extremely conscientious of being an unwanted guest in their home for so long. I never want to outstay my welcome so therefore I tried to tiptoe in the background and keep myself out of sight. I would hate to become a detriment to their living situation or to impair our relationship by being a bad guest. As such, I never really complain about anything or speak up about the conditions of the house. This means, a lot of the time I am uncomfortable and unhappy with the central heating, cooling, and ventilation settings. I don’t have the gas bill in my name or pretend to be in charge of the central thermostat, so I don’t feel like it’s my right to speak up about uncomfortable indoor air quality. That’s why, I’m always piling on layers of clothing to stay warm or turning on fans to cool down. Most recently, I was trying to moderate the temperature of my bedroom by cracking a window because the heater was on too high at night. I let some cool, fresh air into the room and walked out for one moment to use the restroom. When I returned, I saw my friends cat sitting in the window. I ran over to grab her, but she jumped out and sprinted into the street. When I was trying to be a good guest and keep my mouth shut about the unpleasant HVAC settings, I definitely didn’t intend to lose my friends cat instead. I am really a bad guest.
