My uncle Ben sold his furnace, and my family and I are in total shock.
- We knew that Uncle Ben was strange, but we did not expect this out of him.
He has always had the problem of hanging out with the wrong crowd, and the results are this, I guess. It is so irrational to me that I cannot comprehend his behaviour. We went to his house last week, and we all noticed that it was quite chilly in the house. It was probably about fifty-five degrees. It was not freezing, but it was cold enough for us to keep our coats on. We asked Uncle Ben why he had it so cold in the house, and he told us that it was because he did not have a furnace anymore. We thought that maybe his furnace had stopped working, so we asked if he needed some help getting it fixed. He then explained to us that he had sold his furnace the day before. We thought that he was just joking. I went down to the basement where the furnace used to be, and sure enough, the furnace was gone. The worst part about it is the fact that he sold it to give money to his poor friends. He does have some pretty poor friends, but they are poor because they refuse to work not because they are incapable. It was sweet of him, but his pipes are definitely going to freeze if he doesn’t get another furnace in his house. We tried to explain this all to him, but he would not hear us. I am so concerned for my Uncle Ben. He is a sweetheart, but I am not sure that he should be allowed to live on his own.
