Every year, I am more convinced of the same thing pretty much! I believe that while in the holidays, you need to have a fireplace in your dwelling… The group of us used to live in a dwelling when I was a child that only had an oil heating appliance as the heating source.
I used to live in total fear that over the holidays, Santa would not be able to come and bring myself and others a present because all of us didn’t have a fireplace or a chimney for him to make it through! It sounds somewhat crazy now, however back then, having a fireplace, even if it was a gas fireplace, was an enormous deal to me.
Oh, how I didn’t care for hearing the gas furnace cranking on and feeling the heating come blowing through the heating ducts in the frosty season before Christmas came around… Every time the heating kicked in, I was entirely reminded that all of us didn’t have a fireplace or a way for the jolly old man to bring myself and others our toys on Christmas Eve. Nowadays, now that I’m grown up and I have kids of my own, I typically make sure that each place all of us live in has multiple sources of heating. I don’t care if all of us have an electric gas heating appliance, an oil furnace, a heat pump, or radiant heated floors. I do care if all of us have a fireplace and a chimney for our kids’ sake though. I really believe that you have to have a fireplace to feel entirely warm and comfortable over the frosty season, and for Santa to visit!
