Mom and dad were sure I was going to university, but I wasn’t into that idea.
Instead, I wanted to study a trade like my aunt and work for myself.
We had a bit of a back and forth about university and getting a college degree. They kept saying this was the only way for me to succeed in life. However, when we spoke more about it, the student debt would yolk me for a long time. Eventually, I happened to mention my aunt was thriving and there was no coming back because she was and she is an electrician. My aunt opted to become an electrician and now she runs her own company doing both commercial and residential electrical work. Mom and dad agreed I’d get to go to trade school and train to become a HVAC expert. For the longest time I’d been expressing how amazing it is learning about HVAC technology. And it was about time they got on board with my wishes. HVAC school is the best, and I find it interesting learning about new HVAC technology. We have instructors who actually work as HVAC professionals and are always willing to give the students guidance. That, and the advice from my aunt is setting me on the right path. I hope to set up my own HVAC business later, but I will work for local HVAC companies first to learn more skills. There’s only so much you can learn in school. Hands-on experience ensures you learn how to speak with customers, and work with limited time to solve problems.
