A friend was visiting my modern place and it was the first time we’d seen each other in like a decade; But that’s to be understood given the fact that I’ve lived outside the borders of this country for my entire adult life, but she was resting in the dining room while I was making us a couple of iced teas, however that’s when she asked if I would put the a/c on, it’s early June in a region that is famous or infamous for the levels of heat and humidity, but additionally, it was right smack dab in the middle of the peak heating hours, while living and working overseas, I never had the option of reaching for the temperature control.
Instead, I might crank up another fan or even put a wet washcloth on my head or the back of my neck.
These were my answers to heat and humidity levels that would shock even the natives of the deep south where I live. Actually, I’m from this region and have recently come home to transition to a stateside position for the rest of my government job… My friend, who is also a native of this region, was uncomfortable because the temperature control read 84 degrees. I didn’t even have the temperature control flipped over to cooling. I was sort of embarrassed but my friend and I ended up having a nice laugh over it. Still, I am easily having to come to grips with so many things that I’m just not accustomed to now that I’m living in my home country. And having central a/c is on the list. I don’t easily like to have the a/c on if I can help it. I get enough of the commercial Heating and Air Conditioning in the office as it is.
