It’s scary using some of the high wattage lamps that are sold with incandescent or halogen bulbs.
Unlike LED lamps, these older style lights can be serious fire hazards if they’re not used properly.
The last thing you want to do is burn your house down because you knocked over your lamp. That is a terrifying situation for me to imagine, but it’s not beyond happening as well. I know of people who have had issues with fires after knocking over lamps onto the floor. That’s pretty much why I’m adamant about only using LED lights because they’re considerably safer as a whole. But lamps and lights are not the only fire hazards in the home. Even ovens and toasters could start fires if they’re used improperly. One of the most dangerous things that you can use in a home is a space heater. There are so many stories of people starting houses in apartments on fire using space heaters. There’s this rule that says you should only put things as close as 3 ft to a space heater. So it should be 3 ft away from walls and other objects that could be flammable. Back in the old days you could trip over a space heater and it wouldn’t turn off. That could lead to an immediate fire. Nowadays most space heaters come with tip over switches that deactivate the power to the space heater as soon as it gets tipped over. These are really good safety features to make sure you don’t start a fire using a space heater.
