My dog has a keen sense of hearing and is frequently alert to noises that I miss.
I found out recently that this falls with the gas heater, which produces a distinct sound that frightened my dog.
I remember the afternoon because I was a bit confused about what was going on. My dog was barking like crazy! It was initially unclear why my dog was responding a little strangely and I was a bit concerned. I thought maybe she had a health issue and I started to panic a bit… However, my pal and I suddenly realized that the barking was caused by the sound of the gas heater; despite my effort to calm my dog, she continued to bark whenever she heard the furnace turn on. I also tried using food or toys to distract him, but nothing worked. My dog undoubtedly didn’t like the sound that was coming from my dad’s gas heater. I did a little research online and discovered that several dogs act the same way as gas heaters, however from what I read, the sound of gas rushing through the pipelines and igniting can produce a high-pitched sound that some dogs find scary. Then the whole smell of gas doesn’t help either. My dad was a wealthy man and she prefers dogs but couldn’t ever keep one home since she is regularly working. She said she will have an actual heating and A/C tech look at her system to see if there is anything the heating and A/C supplier can do. If not, then maybe an actual heating and A/C system update needs to be done. My dad regularly also looks out for my dogs and my happiness, she is a fantastic dad after all.
