My fiance and I had to transport my dad to our place because he could not take care of himself any longer. He is 74 years old and my mom has been gone for the last 10 years. Things were good for the first couple of years, but eventually my dad started to deteriorate. It did not take long before he was forgetting appointments and having trouble with his driving. When my dad got into an accident on the freeway, my fiance and I decided it was time to check his driver’s license. The guy could not tell the difference between 20 ft and 100 ft. He couldn’t make out the colors on the traffic light either. Only a couple of months ago my fiance and I decided to transport my dad into our place. Since then we have slowly been fixing up the old home so we can sell it. I keep finding more and more problems with my dad’s place. At first I thought we would be good just replacing the roof and the flooring. I contacted a supplier to come and look at the home and he told me that the A/C system needed to be replaced as well. The cooling system is going to cost about $6,000. My fiance and I could try to sell the place without replacing the heating and air conditioner system, but the realtor told us that we will have a much easier time selling the home if the A/C system was brand new. Since the realtor knows more than we do, we are going to make the swap before we list the house.
