Yellow jackets in the A/C unit

During the summer time months, I always try to be mindful of wasps, yellow jackets, hornets, and bees.

These insects tend to find little tiny crevices where they can build a nest and they happen to be in places like the a/c and the boiler.

Ductwork is another good place where wasps and bees like to make a home. A customer called to complain about a weird buzzing sound that was coming from his air duct. I right away thought that the sound was going to be a complication with the A/C unit. We’ve had a lot of overheated and humid days and that causes troubles with the heating and cooling unit. The buzzing sound turned out to be a sizable nest of yellow jackets that was inside of the A/C unit. When I saw the size of the nest, I had to call for backup. There was no way that I was going to be able to remove the metal cover from the a/c by myself. I entirely thought that the purchaser might need to call an exterminator first, so I decided to call my boss. I left the guy two messages and waited 20 minutes before he finally called back, he told me that I should have the purchaser call an exterminator to get rid of the past taking care of before we can attempt to look at the troubles with the A/C unit. The purchaser was pretty bummed out, but he understood why we had to worry about our safety in this situation.
