For more than ten years, I have been anticipating this kind of winter. I was finally able to return to my home region, which is free of snow, ice, and extremely chilly inconsistencies. This Winter, I was able to heat my home without a gas furnace. In actuality, this Winter, the heat pump was activated for heating exactly four times. I kept track of the numbers to determine how much heating my kind friend and I would actually require. The heat pump is kind of overkill unless there is some kind of freak chilly front or something, so next year I’ll just turn on the space heater. It’s been like coming up for air after spending too much time underwater switching from the gas furnace to the heat pump. I’m a southern boy, and I struggle with winter weather that packs a punch like it does up north. And I was in the far north. What, however, was I going to do? I moved north because the task required it of me. I never anticipated going up north for that long, though. So when my managers gave me the choice to return home to the zone-controlled heating and air conditioning of our southern offices, I seized the opportunity. If I’m lucky, my next promotion will send me to the commercial Heating & A/C of corporate. I won’t ever have to deal with a gas furnace again, thank goodness, because that is still in the south. I am aware of how oppressive the summer heat and humidity can be in this area. But I also understand that the heat pump is the ideal tool for the job and offers excellent air conditioning all Summer long.
