Gerald has to say that this is the most comfortable winter season they’ve spent in this beach house.
That doesn’t mean that he’s comfortable with winter, but the efforts he and Peter put in this fall with winter season prep on the beach house have made a big difference.
Being from the south, Gerald doesn’t imagine that he’ll ever fall in love with winter. He does miss the nights of a silent heat pump during the cold season. Where Gerald comes from, there is hardly any heating demand from the heat pump during the winter. Of course, that all changed when he moved up here for Peter’s job. He is actually from this region but went to school in the south. Gerald and Peter met each other in school and after graduating, he stayed down here and got a job. Gerald truthfully thought they would live for all their lives down south. But when Peter was given a big promotion that also sent him back to his home region, he wanted to explore it. Since Gerald works from home, he can work anywhere and of course he agreed to support Peter’s decision. But Gerald underestimated just how hard these winters can be. The beach house they ended up buying came with a brand new furnace along with the rest of the Heating & A/C equipment. But the house was older and he never got around to doing what he needed to do in order to get a nice seal on the beach house. Gerald finally did that this year and it has made an incredible difference. The heating costs are down almost 15 percent. That’s awesome in its own right but the comfort they are enjoying is through the roof. Their cozy beach house is now like a little cocoon of warmth and coziness this winter.
