Taking a commons sense approach to air conditioning

There are certainly times where I tend to overthink a situation or a challenge.

And that’s because it’s sort of the default way my brain works.

While devising complicated solutions to problems works great inside the zone controlled HVAC of the office, I need to leave it there. That’s certainly the case as we approach spring. In most of the country, it’s way too early to be talking about spring. But around here, spring is right around the corner. By Valentine’s Day, I’ll be seeing buds on the trees and then within weeks, or at most a month, there will be air conditioning demand. Right now, we are easing toward the end of January and the heat pump is pretty much silent. If you have to deal with a brutally hot, humid summer, at least it’s great to have such perfect weather during the winter. It’s so mild here that the heat pump barely runs at all as there is very little demand for heating. In fact, there are times it’s just easier to crank the little space heater for an hour in the moring on cold days. And I use the word cold quite lightly. This year, when it comes to air conditioning, I’m not over thinking it when it comes to savings. Nope, we’re going to take a common sense approach to saving money on all the cooling we need. This spring, we’re going to leave the air conditioning off until it’s consistently in the nineties. We’ll be able to acclimate to the heat which will then lower the demand for cooling once the serious heat gets here in June.
