Mom called the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C supplier to have some work done on the gas furnace, and she asked if I would stay house that afternoon until the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional arrived.
He was to be there by 10 AM, but she reminded me he had a more than two-hour window for arrival! When I heard the knock on the door around 11 AM, I looked out the window.
My first thought was to hide from the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional. I stood there breathing hard, and I heard the third knock. The Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional was my crush from high school, and I had never entirely gotten over him. I took a deep breath, hoping he didn’t suppose me. When I opened the door, he showed me his badge, and I didn’t see a flicker of recognition in his eyes. I showed him to the gas furnace room and went back to work. Working from house gave me the ease of working from somewhere. I was sitting at the family room table when Mike came upstairs. He said he had to get a section from the service van, and he would be right back. I realized I had changed my hair color and lost about fifteen pounds since high school. Both of us were also living in another section of town, and he quite possibly did not know who I was. When he came back from working on the gas furnace, he sat down to explain the gas furnace repairs to me. I was getting ready to thank him when he leaned back and told me he enjoyed the hair and he thought I looked amazing, but next thing I knew, the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional was asking me out on a date, and I was accepting.
