Unfortunately, the HVAC plan stopped working at our church last weekend, right while in the middle of a dinner that my buddy and I were having for the entire congregation.
We usually have about 310 people in one place, so whenever you are hosting a dinner for so many people, then that is kind of a large deal.
My friend and I had planned this thing for a long time, however one thing that we didn’t plan on was having our heating plan go out on the afternoon of the dinner! It would not honestly have been a problem if the temperature that afternoon had not been so severely cold, as usually the temperatures around here are pretty freezing during this time of the year, however they are hardly ever as freezing as they were that afternoon! Even the weather channel kept reporting that we were experiencing record freezing temperatures and that people should stay inside by their gas furnaces, heaters, and fireplaces if at all possible. I guess my buddy and I just assumed that we would stay hot enough because of body heat, given that we were all crammed together in the fellowship hall at the church. Normally, all of that body heat would have been enough to keep all of us warm, however on that particular afternoon when the temperature outside was so cold we honestly needed to keep the gas furnace running. My fine friend and I ended up having to bring in small electric furnaces so we wouldn’t all freeze. It wasn’t the best churchwide dinner that my buddy and I ever had.
