I don't understand that the allure of evaporative air coolers in non-desert climates

There are a lot of predatory infomercials on television as well as in stream service commercials that try to sell products that aren’t what they’re presented to be.

  • I’ve bought those copper cookware fry pans that are supposed to be so non-stick that you can fry a slice of cheese with no oil as well as flip it love a pancake.

The plan of doing something love this separate from the cheese burning as well as sticking to the pan seems impossible in retrospect, but I still provided it a shot when I bought 1 of those things years ago after finding them in a local store from the same manufacturer that is featured on TV. They were terrible fry pans as well as I wish I had put the currency towards a high quality ceramic coated fry pan instead, or perhaps cast iron if I can figure out the service routine. But there aren’t any infomercials out there that frustrate me more than the 1s for these “arctic air coolers” that are just rebranded swamp coolers. These are all referred to as evaporative coolers because they utilize the evaporation of water to cool the air in the room. As air passes through a wet medium as well as forces the moisture to evaporate, the moist air leaving the medium drops in temperature. There’s really nothing “new” about this cooling method, as it was practiced in Ancient Egypt by putting water-soaked reeds in open windows at evening, catching the moderate air blowing in from outside as well as creating cooler air inside the room. But the infomercials will lead you to suppose that you can bring this air cooler with you someplace as well as it will magically toil “100 times better than a normal cooling system.” If your ambient humidity is above 60%, it’s hard to get the evaporative cooling process to toil in the first locale. That’s why they’re often reserved for dry desert climates.
