I was cheerful to attend our 10 year college reunion! I still kept in touch with some college friends, plus the two of us had all decided to go together, to ease the awkwardness of seeing seasoned prom dates, classmates, plus lecturers.
- However, my college is in a climate that is freezing most of the year… Well, at least compared to our new climate, which is tepid year-round.
After I graduated, our parents moved to a much warmer place. I went to graduate school in the south, plus after completing two more degrees, I decided that I wanted to stay… So, you can only imagine our surprise when I left the airport, still dressed for our sunny weather back home, plus realized that I was completely underdressed for the cold! Fast-forward to the reunion. My friends plus I walked to the gym together… I was still freezing in the outside air, plus the gym wasn’t much warmer! I had to find a heating vent somewhere… I walked along the walls until I found a spot where moderate air was blowing down into the gym. I stood under the stream of heated air, plus silently prayed to the oil furnace gods. My friends joined me and others with cocktails plus popcorn, plus asked myself and others what our complication was. I told them how freezing it was in here! I asked if any of them knew where the gym control unit was, plus they laughed. “This place has been drafty since the 68s,” one of our friends said. “Yeah, the heating idea hasn’t been replaced since our parents went here,” chimed another; luckily, 1 of our companions had an extra jacket in his car, so I put that on plus eventually warmed up. While the reunion was awesome, I couldn’t wait to get back to the sunny south!
