My mom and I went to visit my sister when she was in college. It was a 4-Hour drive from my house to the place where my sister was living. My mom wanted to surprise my sister for her 21st birthday and I thought it was a great idea to. We left on Wednesday morning and we surprised my sister after school that day. We spent all afternoon with Jane and we had dinner and a few drinks. I only had one beer, because I was supposed to drive the whole way home. My mom has a hard time driving after dark, so I knew it was important for me to be alert and oriented. I had a beer with dinner, but my mom had a couple of glasses of wine after we were done eating. We said goodbye to my sister around 10 at night and started driving home. I was a little tired, but I wasn’t sleepy. I’m sure I would have been fine to drive the entire distance, but we ended up stopping for the night when the AC stopped working halfway home. The fan was blowing ice cold air and then it stopped. It was very abrupt and sudden and I couldn’t get the fan to blow cold air or warm air. I tried both the heat and the AC. My mom was already a little drunk and tired and I wasn’t very happy when the AC stopped blowing cold air. It was the one thing keeping me wide awake. We decided to stop for the night so we could get a hotel room.
