I am one of those people who stresses cleanliness and organization above just about everything else.
I’m this way at the office and I am the same way when it comes to my household.
But, being a single parent with a full time, stressful career makes it tough to also put on my cleaning lady hat when I get home. At the office, we have a commercial cleaning service who show up every night. They do the janitorial services like carpet cleaning and getting rid of the trash. They do a good job and it made me want the same for my house. My schedule is so demanding that I have to count on doing the house cleaning on the weekends or dumping it on the kids. Neither of which is a sustainable plan. But I hesitated at hiring a maid service as it felt sort of weird to have someone else cleaning my house. It was like if I wasn’t doing the carpet cleaning and such, I was a bad person and a worse parent. However, the reality was that the house was just not getting sufficiently cleaned and it was making me crazy. Just attempting to do the floor maintenance after I got home from work was too much. Plus, I really needed the weekends to refresh and reconnect with my kids. It was more than clear that a maid service was necessary. I found a maid service for hire from a local add. The cleaning lady was awesome and she even brought her own cleaning supplies. Having a maid service has lifted so much off my shoulders that I just wish I had done it earlier.
