I have a really big phobia of snakes and sometimes it drives me a little bit crazy. I’m so scared of snakes that I dream about them sometimes and I even have nightmares about them. Well, recently I was reading about different ways to make sure that there are no snakes anywhere in or around your house. Since snakes are cold blooded, they like to stay in places where there is lots of heating. For that very reason, I don’t ever even run the heating system in my house. I know that sounds ridiculous. However, I live in the part of the country where the temperatures don’t ever get very cold. That’s one of the reasons that I don’t have to worry about running my furnace system very often. However, once in a while the temperatures drop outside and that’s when I start to worry about those awful snakes somehow getting into my house. See, once my grandma told me that she had a space heater running in her basement because the weather was cooling off outside. She always ran the space heater whenever the temperature was getting a little cold. Well, one day, she went down into the basement to check on her space heater. There, on top of the space heater, was a big old snake! He was all curled up enjoying the heating that was coming from the space heater! I think this story that my grandma told me probably fueled my fear of snakes. But it probably also has kept me from spending a fortune on fancy furnaces and HVAC bills throughout my adult life, too.
