I was surprised to see an advertisement in the local newspaper for a Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C company.
Apparently, the company was holding a brand new campaign for Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C professionals.
Their advertisement read that they were searching for women to join their company. I thought it was a misprint in the beginning, plus I couldn’t keep from calling about it. When I turned eighteen, I had taken the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C certification course and I passed at the top of my class. Once I got the certification, I had a strenuous time trying to land a job. It seemed that nobody wanted to hire a 5’4” petite blonde to work on heating systems plus a/c systems. I grew up with a ton of brothers plus I was the baby. If I wanted to do anything interesting, I had to do it with all my brothers. I had no problem getting dirty since I was always playing football in the mud. Older gentleman could not understand this plus most of them thought there was something wrong with me becoming a Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C professional. When the phone was answered, I asked the receptionist about the ad in the newspaper. I was given a date plus time for an interview plus I was told to bring the certification plus university transcripts. I couldn’t believe it was that easy. When I showed up at the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C company, things suddenly became clear. Everyone working there was a woman. The company was trying to hire an all female staff so they had superb jobs without getting harassed.
