Changing temperatures make me feel lucky to have a good furnace

When I decided to leave the city and move to the country, I knew life would be much different.

The city is full of lights and fast-moving cars.

The country is exactly the opposite. The only light I see at night are the twinkle of 1000 stars lighting up the sky. I rarely see a car, let alone something moving faster than the speed of a horse. My cabin is down a dirt road, and giant oak trees line each side of the path. Most people would probably be spooked when driving to the cabin, which is a great deterrent to crime, solicitors, and Jehovah’s Witnesses. The outdoor fall temperatures have been getting colder and colder. We went to find some nice pumpkins on Saturday, and the outdoor temperatures were only in the upper 30s. That’s extremely cold for the end of October. I’m happy that my cabin has a very good furnace. Last year I updated the furnace, when I decided to get rid of the old one. The cabin had a wood furnace in the middle of the living room and an electric space heater in the bedroom. I decided to put a ductless furnace in the living room and the bedroom. Both of the ductless heaters are controlled by a small remote control. I can adjust the temperatures independently, which is very helpful. I usually adjust the ductless furnace in my bedroom, so the temperatures are a few degrees cooler than the rest of the house. Even when it’s really cold outside, I still like the bedroom to be chilly.
