My HVAC tech journey

Growing up, I was always the one who was ensuring that all taps were properly closed and they were not leaking.

I hated seeing someone brushing their teeth with a running tap. Any form of wastage even in other things was unacceptable to me. Looking back, I got on everyone’s nerves even if it was for a good cause. This went on until my parents and siblings were on board with the sustainable use of all available resources. My fascination with sustainable heating technology started in high school and when I was done with school I joined a home services company as an HVAC tech. I could install or work on most heating equipment the heating industry has to offer including a furnace, but the company I work for specialises in geo heat pump installation. I installed the first digital thermostat in our home. Most people are not aware of the cost and work involved in installing such a system. The ductwork and duct sealing compared to other equipment are the easy part, but the rewards afterwards are worth all the work and effort. The first time I worked on such a system, I was only required to do heating maintenance and heating repair and since it was my first time working on such a system I was accompanied by a senior HVAC serviceman. Every project that the heating dealer is involved in presents its own set of challenges, one of the main ones being the type of soil where the excavation will take place. Compared to other heating devices, this one does not utilize fossil fuel and even when it does, it uses less fossil fuel compared to the others that are fully dependent on them.
