When he was 12 years old, he was 200 lb & 6 foot 5 inches tall. By the time he was finished with private school, he was over 7 ft in height. My Dad had a actually strenuous time finding furniture that would suit his needs. The bed was always too short & the couches were actually uncomfortable; His feet slouched over the bed & couches were impossible. He never liked to go places, because he sad about looking weird or strange. When our mom got married, our mom surprised our dad by having a custom bed built. My parents still have the custom bed, & it was clearly built to last. The custom piece of furniture is made out of a strong oak tree. All of the pieces are handcrafted using a lathe & hand tools. The custom headboard is adorned with our mom & Mom’s initials on their respective side of the bed. My mom decided to have the custom bed built, so she had plenty of leg room. The bed is a full two feed longer than most bed frames. There is a piece of foam at the end of the bed, because our parents never found a mattress that is 8 feet long. The bed takes up most of our parents room, however it is clearly the focal point. Since the oak bed frame has a rustic look & feel, so does the rest of the family room. My parents even decorate the room with outdoor items, so it looks entirely interesting.
