Removing that wood stove was a lot of work

The previous owner of my house definitely wanted to live in a country style of home.

The porch had a special wood that makes it look distressed like a barn.

The inside of the house was all wood siding with a wood ceiling. Those things were easily sanded and changed. The worst thing was that the house came with a woodstove. There was central heating, the wood stove was a decorative piece. Even though it was too small to properly heat the house, the homeowners had it vented and connected all the way to the roof. It was a functional decorative piece. I wanted the house and hated that wood stove. The previous owner told me all about how functional it was and how to properly care for it. You bet the moment the previous owner left, the woodstove was out the door too. I got stuck with a whole bunch of work trying to remove that heater. They made a brick pad for the stove to sit on. I had to take a sledgehammer to remove it. Then the carpet had to be ripped up since there was a giant hole in it. I had to replace that, take out the piping and patch the ceiling. Then I needed roofers to remove the protrusion on my roof and then the hole. Getting the actual wood stove out of my house wasn’t easy too. It was cast iron, so it was super heavy. It was such a tiny heating system that no HVAC company wanted it. I ended up selling it to a guy for his hunting shack.
